Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Manager - £36,000 - £42,000 - Liverpool/Hybrid

We are exclusively partnered with the prestigious University of Liverpool, a Russell Group listed University. They are looking for a Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Manager to join their IT Services.

The University are currently implementing a new Target Operating Model, which is resulting in a £3.5m investment into the digital and IT services, this is creating 60 new roles over the next 2 years. On top of this they are also investing into their facilities, creating a brand new, modern and collaborative working environment for their IT services.

This is a brand new role to the University, your role as the Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Manager would be working closely with a wide range of technical staff within IT Services to ensure that disaster recover and continuity solutions are documented, regularly reviewed, tested, maintained and continuously improved to meet current and future requirements.

You will apply your specialist knowledge to assist the team in developer disaster recovery plans, ensuring these are consistent with the University's business continuity plans.

Responsibilities

  • Working with other groups within ITS such as Enterprise Architecture, Information Governance & Security plus a variety of Infrastructure and Operations Technical teams to facilitate improvements to continuity provision.
  • Assist in developing Disaster Recovery (DR) plans, ensuring these are consistent with the University's Business Continuity Plan.
  • Facilitate improving alignment between strategic continuity objectives and technical capability of current and future IT services to achieve them. Analysing and documenting any gaps and independencies in technical continuity provision and identifying alternative ways of working, revised or additional services and systems available to reduce risk.
  • Schedule and coordinate regular resilience, continuity, and failover testing, managing communication, planning and risk mitigation. Recording test outcomes, addressing issues with stakeholders, and seeking continuous operational improvement.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of industry standard IT Service recovery solutions, high availability architectures, elementary IT networking and IT solutions design.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey plans, exercises, and activities. Must be able to interact equally well with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience authoring disaster recovery plans, processes, and playbooks.
  • Understanding of recovery point and time objectives with regards to aligning backup/recovery capabilities across varied aspects of an application stack regardless of underlying technology platform.
